Shelli Underwood Crawford |  | Miss Shelli Underwood Crawford graduated from Victory Christian School in 2007, with a 4.0 GPA. She began cheerleading at the age of five for the City League, then cheered for Jr.Varsity and Varsity at Victory. She also cheered for Starrz American All-Starr squad while taking tumbling and cheernastic classes at Starrz. She had to end her cheerleading due to a permanent knee injury. In 2005, she began to coach for American All Starrz. In 2006, she coached the squad to a National Championship Title and intends to do the same for many years to come! Miss Shellie is certified by the National Council for Spirit and Safter Education. She plans to attend college to become an Elementary teacher and remain coaching at Starrz. Shelli was in the Beta Club, National Honor Roll, National Honor Society, Who's Who Among American High School Students, People to People Ambassador, and received the following awards from the American Achievement Academy : Leadership Award, Science Award, Math Award, and the Merit Award. She also received the Presidential Physical Fitness Award and a scholarship to Tennessee Temple University. Miss Shelli is very excited to continue her carree teaching cheerleading and tumbling at STARRZ. | Eric Thornton | | | Erica has been a dancer and gymnast since the age of seven. She started a serious dance pursuit when she started dancing with Starr Gaither Kendrick at the age of nine. Erica studied ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical, and tumbling under Starr for four years until she was accepted to the Alabama School of Fine Arts at age thirteen. Erica attended the Alabama School of Fine Arts for five years where she was rigorously trained in Classical Ballet, Jazz, Modern (Duncan and Graham techniques), Contemporary Ballet, West African, and Flamenco styles. Erica also acquired the skills to be proficient in Hip-Hop and Urban Stepping while attending high school. She was in the first season of the ballet company Arova, and also trained (summer ’05) with the Orlando Ballet under acclaimed dancer Fernando Bujones. Erica has performed all over the country and taken classes from big names such as, Thaddeus Davis, Fabrice Lemire (Cirque Du Soleil Artistic Director), Elio Palmeras, Dallas Black Dance Company, Debbie Allen, Ron Brown, Thor Sutowski, and many more. Erica started choreographing her junior year in high school and choreographed a successful senior show called “Bottom Dwellers: continue to dig”. Erica is an award-winning choreographer and has been teaching for three years. She choreographed “Brass Monkey” and “ Panthera Leo” for Starrz Performing Arts Center ’08-’09 dance season. Erica graduated with honors from the Alabama School of Fine Arts with a GPA of 4.0. She now attends Samford University with a major in business / minor in dance and is a member of the Zeta Tau Alpha sorority. She aspires to own a dance studio, travel, and judge dance competitions. She also hopes to become a highly respected and desired choreographer. | Hayley Daniels | |  | Hayley began gymnastics at the age of two, and trained under Marty Hobbs and Marilyn Sanders from 1982 through 1987. She was an award-winning member of the T.R. Simmons School gymnastics team, as well as the Birmingham Wings gymnastics team, winning numerous bronze, silver, and gold medals in all events. She was head cheerleader at Walker County High School, was a member of the homecoming court, and won the Miss Walker High School pageant. She began her gymnastics coaching career teaching for Marilyn Sanders, in Jasper and continued at TNT Tumblers in Sumiton where she also taught Cheernastics. She has also taught gymnastics and tumbling at Lindley’s World of Performing Arts in Oxford and at Premier Gymnastics in Sumiton, where she taught Mommy and Me classes for mothers and their children. She won the International Cover Model Search finishing in the Top 10 percentile nationwide, winning a trip to South Beach, Miami for photo shoot to display comp cards to photographers around the nation. She modeled professionally for shoots by Bernard Gillette Photography in New Orleans and Baton Rouge, and for Ed Wallinskey Photography in Windsor, Ontario, Canada. Her photos appeared in worldwide travel brochures advertising the Caribbean Village Resorts in Cancun, Mexico. She also participated in the Glamour Models, Inc. photo shoot in Beverly Hills, California, and appeared in the 1998 issue of Varsity Magazine. Hayley maintains her passion for gymnastics, and enjoys helping young gymnasts develop their budding talents. She is safety certified in gymnastics instruction. |
